I rode in the pasture - that's all I had to ride in at the time. If that's a safe option for you, that's better - you don't want constant torque on the still-healing tendon

I started walking 20 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week, for 2 weeks or so. I then added just a couple of minutes, total, of trotting, for about a week. I added a minute or so of trotting, each way, every 3 days or so. Once I was at about 45 minutes, total, with the same 20-25 minutes of walking, I backed down to 30 minutes, replaced a few minutes of trotting with cantering, and worked back up to the 45-60 minutes total. When you increase intensity, decrease the time - golden rule. If you want to go a bit longer because it's a beautiful day, back off the intensity

Hey, I just wanted to say that I do not think you are a BYB. Don't be discouraged. You haven't actually bred anything yourself anyways! You have talked about potential breedings, but never actually did anything. I think you honestly want to learn and do the right thing by your horse's. With that attitude I think that you will be a responsible breeding if and when you eventually do produce a foal of your own. On the topic of your SISTERS mare, I don't believe you had the final say on that. I think the cross is good. The stallion is awesome, and I've owned and been around several NSHs that were amazing, talented individuals that won in many events on the half-arab circuit including western type events. Yes, the ultrasound thing was irresponsible, IMO...but again, that was not your doing. That was your parents. There are several very knowledgeable horse people on this forum, but there are MORE morons who have a pony in their backyard, a 'save the earth' sticker on their car (which is usually something completely environmentally UNfriendly), and think they are some sort of expert. Smile. This is just a stupid forum full of crazies. My advice would be listen to the real life breeders, trainers and horse professionals you know and trust, who have exhibited what you consider responsible behavior and good decision making skills.

Yeah! I really thought about using that pulley rein stop instead of the one rein stop reading that thread on HGS so I am going to work on it heavily with Pepper tomorrow. It is good for an ex-racer to know something like that. He knows the one rein stop but... eh... Just in case!

Glad they are well and I hope your injured one gets better real soon. Poor thing.

They're alright. Going to start prepping Pepper tomorrow for an ACTHA competitive trail ride on November 7th and work on the obstacles that may be on the ride to make sure we don't mess up on something or at least try to avoid it.

I havent been able to post in the blog until now. He is doing amazing and I think we are finally getting to the point where we wont have to bandage for much longer. He has started biting at his bandages so I know he wants them off. Other than that he is fat and healthy. This is what his legs look like as of 8/27.

I am going to start a blog on Dollars Injury. I will post most of my updates here.

Well I took my new gelding to a horse camp in Lassen park.We got there on Tues. and the accident happened on Wed. All of his lameness issues were nonexistent once shoes were put on. We went on our first trail ride and then disaster struck. We had just ate lunch and were heading back to camp. There was 15 of us riding in a single file line. Everyone had gone on except me and 3 other people....
