do you do finger tips touching the horse or the saddle?? Honestly my wrist lacks alot of ranch of motion b/c of my break, perhaps that's my problem too......I honestly feel VERY dumb, like I'm so un-coordinated doing it, and my elbow ends up hitting me in the gut....please, feel free to laugh at my struggle, at least I will know someone is getting something outta it

Ok, one more question.....I'm REALLY struggling with the "feeling undereath" part when the saddle if on the back. I try to run my hands under it, but I just end up lifting the saddle up off the back! I feel so dumb, and I think "how the heck do people DO this!?!?" Any tricks??
Oh and I took your advice and finally remembered to take my rubber inserts out to the barn & put them into the Wintec Isabell for Torreau, to help take the pressure off the front & back of the due to it being too flat for his shape. I honestly think it fits MUCH better.....No sweat mark impressions yet as he's on light work (tendonitis in the left shoulder) so he never breaks a sweat with his limited work outs, but I'll be looking at them once he's back to full work!

Hey, just wanted to thank you.....I think after much work & eye developing I'm starting to see through photos the differences (even slight ones) in the side to side shape/angle of rear panels. Now to get REALLY good at the front to back shape....then I'll be set! Goal is to have that down before Fez gets a new saddle Thanks for explaining it to me though!

    Hi!
My trainer got another horse riding with us yesterday and Seagull even look at it. We were also mixing with horses on out outing on Sunday and he didn't get the slightest excited. So I think the next step will be to find responsible riding buddy and that'll sort out my worry about meeting horses on the hack and will allow us to go farther in comfort, as he finds it very reassuring to have company.
But the trainer thinks it's time to raise energy levels, because Seagull is complying with everything willingly, yet doesn't give anything extra, it's like if he had no desire to express himself through the motion. Dull, in other words. I also noticed his play drive is gone, but he feels, acts, eats normally, I don't think he's sore.

I think I've sent a message to myself instead of you
    That how it goes:
thank you. I have what I call a 3/4 whip, but just realized it's not enough and getting two dressage whips is exactly what i was planning to do. I do worry, however, that he'll lear the difference between that and the other whp.
I know it won't fail. The only failure is me tickling him with the whip instead of meaning the business. Thank you.

Well, it's been an interesting few weeks. I learned that as I started asking for a little bit "more", Miss Nip started to make it clear that there were some issues that need to be addressed, both mentally and physically. It would take way too long to explain what her physical issues are, but they are pretty darn interesting to say the least. I'm going to be doing a few weeks of hands-on therapy with her to work through some of these issues, and then start over.

The good...

It's been a long while since I posted an update, and I feel very special that several folks have asked for one

As expected, we've had good days, great days, and really bad days. When I've hit a stumbling block I spend the next day or two doing groundwork where I can more effectively address the problem (like not moving off my right leg). The next ride is always SO much improved! I'm sure a better rider could address things just as effectively through a ride, but that's why they...

Continuing the work in the field, we headed out there this morning. Things actually started off better than yesterday - more relaxed. Had some really nice walking - it's amazing what you start to take for granted on a trained pony

Once again we worked through "one leg means move over, not go" *sigh* Fortunately this was a day where she got it quickly.

But this time, trotting was not really part of Catnip's game plan. I thought "we'll do a...

Miss Nip needs to continue to learn to work in the pasture. So, back out there this morning. It's like starting all over Trotting is sporadic, lots of head tossing, stop start. It was a bit frustrating, but given how relatively quickly she's progressed in the ring, I think if I concentrate on the field for a while, things will get to where they are in the ring.

One thing's for darn sure though, I'm waiting until the ring gets fenced in before I even think about cantering!...

They are LARGE, I'm very sorry, I'm working on how to get them reduced in size. The first is 9mb, the 2nd is 12mb (I think).
