Heather,
I enjoyed reading the "story" behind breeding your mare. You won't get any flames from me for breeding her. I'm sure there are some people who think I shouldn't have had my mare bred. And maybe I shouldn't have, but I did.

If she is pregnant, I can't wait to see the baby. He/she will be gorgeous!
I'm so sorry to hear about your father. It would be so special if your mare was pregnant. I'm praying that she is!
I tried getting my mare pregnant last year. Like you, we tried it three times. Each time the semen was amazing quality, especially the last time. I think the last time we AI'd her that year, it was just a little late, and maybe she had already ovulated, but the vet was still extremely hopeful. Still no foal. I didn't know if I was going to try it again this year or not. I didn't want to spend all the money, yet I still really wanted that foal. So I decided I'd try again. It was a two year contract, so I didn't have to pay the stud fee again, thankfully.
This year the first time we were going to AI her, the vet thought he had it pretty well pinned down when she was going to ovulate. For no particular reason, she ovulated way early, and it was an after ovulation breeding. The vet was not very hopeful just from that. Then he went back to the vets clinic and checked the semen, and said the quality was
awful. Basically what wasn't dead was swimming backwards or had crooked tails or something. He said it would be a miracle if she got pregnant. Well, guess what? Miracles still happen!

She was pregnant!
