Either one! My boyfriend graduates on June 13th and we will be heading back up north right after that, but I am here in central ca done with school for 3 weeks before that. August is all clear for me except my aunt/uncle are coming to visit from Japan (i think the 11th-18th?).
But other than that I can completely work around *your* schedule, and you will absolutely be riding Kai! I would have stuck the other Emily on him today except things were too crazy She probably would have ridden him better than me!! So the two Em's will be riding Kai, while I get Bodie- I am in love with that horse!

HURRAY! That's the best thing I've heard all day. Kai is the same way, he doesn't ever take off with me- although he does tend to travel to la la land at bad times . I wish I could ride Buddy! One day...
You'd better come visit me when you come to CA, I would never forgive you otherwise! We'll meet up with the other Em and you can school Kai a bit CC near where her barn is- you would have a ton of fun on him!

For me it is the other way, I am all about long and slow! I am actually thinking about looking into anti-anxiety drugs/some sort of therapy because I have problems with anything going fast...in cars, airplanes, on my bike, everything.
So I have to learn to love the gallop. Maybe you just need to come here and show me how it's done!!

Haha, you are too sweet! I'm just going to take things slow- not going to give up on eventing just yet, but we will be at BN for a long, long while, and I'm going to work a lot on getting to "know" his hand gallop- he has never done anything to warrant it but it is really just terrifying to me to feel how powerful he is when he really is eager- so lots of trot/canter/gallop sets for us, and Suzie is going to go cc schooling with me and ride behind and coach while I do the course the whole way through.
But I may be sneaking in some jumper schooling shows this summer too

Thanks so much, I am grateful to have such wonderful cheerleaders! I posted a thread about the whole day and I'm going to try to get some video stills- won't have the SJ pictures until the pro ones are posted, boyfriend forgot the camera...*sigh*. But seriously, we may just have to become jumpers! I think that is the first time I have really enjoyed jumping in the arena while doing it, instead of just looking back on it and being proud of what I had accomplished- if I hadn't freaked out and let him go around the CC course at the same pace I really think we would have finished. Oh well!

Hey Emily! I'm alive I got a 43.2 in dressage, which was a gift because he was being very bad- clear in show jumping, and eliminated in cross country. I lost my nerve and started micromanaging- he was very enthusiastic but I choked him up and so he refused and I fell off. He was a bit of a pill through the whole thing but Suzie helped me really work him at the end so we left on a good note. I'm disappointed in myself but it sure could have been worse.
Thanks for all the well wishes and hugs sent through the other Em! They were much appreciated .

I am a big time pony clubber. I am rated as a HB, looking to take my riding C3 sometime soon. I rode dressage for several years before getting Buddy who I now event on. I love eventing and plan to debut at training level in the spring of 2008.

I am also a big time Civil War and Indian War eras Cavalry Reenactor. With my unit we portray the 5th Texas Mounted Volunteers for the Civil War era. They fought for the famed Tom Greene and were an active part of the Glorieta Campaign in New Mexico, fighting in the battles of Socorro, Glorieta Pass, and Apache Canyon. For the Indian Wars era we portray the 4th U.S. Cavalry led by John Chivington of fame. They fought extensively along the western frontier against the Indians from the end of the Ci

Ok... so today at work it was just me and my supervisor, Jen. Between us we have to feed, clean, water etc.

Well, as it were the water toughs in the stallion pastures were all low, so we needed to fill them. To do that you have to go down to the equine center and get the tractor and giant water tank.

We get down there and first order of business is to fill the tank from the fire hydrant, so we stick the hose in it and after about 5 minutes we finally figure out which way...

So... I love my job! Like a lot It's just so awesome!!

My favorite part of the day is early in the morning when we get to take all the stallions out. I love getting to interact with them, I'm starting to learn their personalities and what they like and don't like and how to handle each one. This is what I've learned about each so far:

First we have Capote's Promise, he's a retired racehorse, thoroughbred obviously, and a Seattle Slew grandson. He's tall, dark and handsome....

Holy **** when was the last time I posted in here?

Uhhhh yeah... like april

SO much has happened this summer! Of course, got me a wonderful boyfriend, and we have had much adventures this summer! Went on a motorcycle trip to Moab, UT and then to the Grand Canyon and back. 1550 miles on the bike... I couldn't feel my butt for a week! But it was a BLAST!

Other adventures of the summer included climbing a 14er, my second time climbing to above 14,000ft,...

I'm considering changing my major... for good. Originally I had intended to go for Equine Sciences... but then decided against it for a few reasons, one because you can't really trully get a good job from that without going onto vet school, and the community college I'm going to only offers a vet tech program. I decided to try Forestry, Wildlife, and Natural Resources out... I'm finishing up a forestry class. It's been fun... but, dunno if this is really truly for me. I mean, I could do it if I...
