I bet you can find some kind of arrangement to trailer your horse! My trainer said they haven't had very good experiences in the past at the Flag shows, so we skipped out on those. We're going to do the Copper State schooling shows out here in Chandler/Gilbert and then some Tucson and Westworld stuff. I guess there are some rated shows at Westworld and Tucson that also run non-rated divisions, which is cool since I don't need to be spending money on rated shows!

I'm really nervous because it's been so long, I don't even know if I fit in my show clothes anymore, and they are probably kind of outdated. I will keep you posted on the first show I go to, it will probably be either the last weekend in Sept (Westworld) or the first weekend of October (Tucson).

Hey! Are you going to do any of the local shows coming up in the next few months? We just had a meeting at my barn talking about what shows we might go to, and I think I'm going to do some! I'm nervous because I haven't shown in ages, but I think it would be fun...

Ok, here are 2 more I loved:
Andrew McLean - The Truth About Horses. He has a degree in animal psychology, and he explains a lot of the root of *why* things work (and don't) with horses. WHY repetition works. WHY getting upset doesn't work. WHY assuming that just because he got the right answer 3 times in a row does not mean he really has it. WHY just because something works well at him is not an indication of how well it will work in a new environment. Very cool

Next: Michael Shaeffer - Right From the Start. He talks about a great deal of ground work to teach the horse what the outside rein means, how to give to pressure while still accepting contact, how to be supple and move forward and sideways, all before getting on

Oh, great! Yes, I love that book. I often go back to it to re-read a section or three. Glad you like it too!
