Honestly? Atm, I'm just working my behind off remodeling a house! I'm not particularly watching what I eat and definately not exercising.
But I lost the initial weight first by cutting out sodas, sweet tea, and sugar in my coffee. I lost ~20 lbs in 2 months just by this (and it was over the holidays as well!). Then I started making an effort to have smaller portion sizes, slightly healthier meal choices, and eliminating sweets (or really restricting them).
Right now I just make sure that I eat breakfast, try not to have really fatty foods more than once or twice a week, try not to eat within 3-4 hours of bedtime, etc..
Also something that really worked for me is varying my calorie intake day to day. (There's a specific name for this, but I can't remember it.) Basically it works like this....
My daily calorie goal is 1300. That means that I get 9100 calories a week.
Sunday - 1500
Monday - 1200
Tuesday - 1600
Wednesday - 1400
Thursday - 1000
Friday - 1300
Satufday - 1100
That's just an example obviously, but gives you an idea of what you're trying to do. You want to have some high calorie days, some low calorie days, and some mid calorie days. You don't want two back to back high calorie days or two back to back low calorie days. Back to back mid calories are just fine.
This also gives you the freedom to 'splurge' a bit on your high calorie days! (Perfect day to grab a small burger or an order of french fries!) This helps to keep your body from getting stuck. And helps you to vary your diet as well.
If I'm really craving something, I let myself have it simple as that. But I have to really be craving it, and I keep the portion size small. I've found that I feel so much better when I don't have a lot of sugars or fats in my diet, that I naturally stay away from them now without even trying. I also make sure that I eat lots of lean proteins. For me that usually means egg whites. (I like to take four egg whites with about 1/8th of a yolk scrambled up on whole wheat toast (with tomato if I have it).) Very filling, very fast, very healthy, and very cheap. And very low calorie with lots of proteins and a bit of carbs.
I noticed today how close I am to my new goal, and I really think I should just buckle down and get there! I'm not even trying right now, it's just coming naturally with the healthier lifestyle choices.
I've actually lost right at 50 lbs since last November. I just got so sick and tired of not feeling good, feeling frumpy, and my clothes not fitting right. Decided it was time to change something!
