Sooooooo yeahhhhh I have a dilema. I'm kind of confused in regards to if I want to breed Romi THIS coming spring, or the next spring. I have her being ridden four times a week and getting back into shape. I'm kinda becoming hesitant as to if I want to have her out of training again when she's too large, or have her looking trim and muscled up for the inspection next fall. I dunno. That and, I'm FINALLY taking dressage lessons, do I want to worry about breeding her or our training together. I dunno!! I'm going nuts!! Haha. I think this is all coming from the fact that I'm moving during the spring, so breeding her is another thing I have to worry about. It wouldn't be a HUGE thing to worry about, but none the less something to worry about. I would go back to the states early to have her bred, and leave James in Germany. He doesn't mind, but I do. Haha. I'm confuzzled!

How goes it with the new horsey!!?? Haven't heard any updates lately or any pics of you on him! Haha. Come on now don't leave us hanging. Haha.

    Hugs.

I have been riding for nearly 20 years. In high school I worked with many OTTBS, training them for new careers as H/J's. I have been a professional riding instructor for several years. My goal as an instructor is to provide students with a solid foundation that will allow them to pursue the riding discipline of their choice. My teaching philosophy is safety first, followed by good overall horsemanship and love for riding. I am a strong believer in Centered Riding practices and have been studying Sally Swifts riding techniques for many years. I am currently training under an international level Eventing rider/coach.

On NH:
The problem I personally have with NH in many cases is that its often taken as Gospel - and it is unwaivering and not customized to the horse. ALL horses are individuals - they think, learn and react differently. While much of the NH concept works with a wide variety of them, I find that NH trainers often don't adjust when it doesn't work on every horse and then label the horse as "untrainable" or react in anger or frustration.

While I think the NH movement...

First, I believe that flat work should be solid before jumping is introduced. Should be going well w/t/c and picking up leads pretty consistantly. Should be balanced, soft, and able to maintain tempo. Should not be rushing. Transistions should be well schooled, balanced as well.

Horse should be able to walk/trot and canter quietly over ground poles without getting excited or rushing.

Horse should be responsive to half halts, should be schooling leg yeilds, be able to...

I'm only 28 but I got out of horses for about 5 years during college and my 1st marriage. There was a piece of my soul missing. When I got back into horses I never dreamed I would end up being a professional rider and instructor! In fact, it took me 3 years to overcome my fear of doing ANYTHING on horseback.

It was shocking to me that I WAS that 17 year old girl galloping bareback out back jumping things and loving every minute of it! Hahah, I scared myself even THINKING about...
