No, the weekend one is $250 and I don't have that right now. With three kids, it gets tight (too often). I just bought a new breast collar and some of the mecate slobber straps - which those should be done this weekend - I hope I can get them Sunday!

Hey, I'm so excited. I cannot really afford to do it myself so I signed April up to do that massage clinic here in Fairfield with Masterson and Conley just called me telling me that April is excepted to do it on Monday. She was asking about you - are you interested? If so, you need to get in touch with her. Let me know if you need her e-mail. Awesome, hah? I'm really hoping this will help April and some of her problems.....

Sure, I can come down Friday but I won't be there until later since I don't get off until 5. Is that OK? What do you transport the water (for the horses) in? I know that I won't need as much as you since I only have one - but I never had to do this before? I wonder if I should get some smaller buckets with lids at TSC - my back is out now, last weekend I lifted heavy tubes full of my son's toys and carried them downstairs by myself and my back went out. It's pretty bad. I have this constant cramping feeling going on. It's getting better each day but I don't want to go backwards with my progress.

Sounds good. We might be able to get down there fairly early Friday as well. I'm going to drive a car down as well so my son can come back for a bit Friday early evening and/or early Saturday morning as we have a film crew coming to tape a hunt for advertising (it will be on tv!!!) and he wants to be involved in that. Can you tell me how to get there?

I would really like to get away for one night anyway but would be willing to drive that far to at least check to see if there's room to camp. Let me know when you get plans finalized. Thanks :-) Pam

I have a porta potty in my trailer so that's nice. I'll have to try to figure out some way to haul the water though. We would ride at Brighton right? Anyone else you want to invite would be fine with me :-) My son and probably his girlfriend will be coming with me :-)

OK, I'm going to camp over one night. What night would be better - Friday or Saturday? I'm so excited. Thanks for asking Bonnie. This will be a nice get a way for me.

That might work. Where would we camp? I'm not familiar with anything down there.

Hey that sounds good. I probably won't be able to camp but I'll come over and ride. Let me check to see what day or days. Should we see if 2manypetz can come? Or anyone else?

Did you guys your hay done? Ann cancelled lessons tonight since she needs to bale and such with this georgous weather - she's taking advantage of it.

Hubby and I are nearing retirement age and got back into horses a couple of years ago. We love our horses, and love to trail ride and camp! We found a great trainer near us, and have learned so much from her, and our horses have really benefited. We nursed our big draft cross (JR) through an episode with canker in 06 - he was pretty much a rescue when we bought him. He is doing VERY well now, and has become much more than a horse to me!

My daughter just called from New York (JFK airport) -- she had just arrived from Amman, Jordan, and will be continuing on to Chicago in a couple of hours. She has been in Petra, Jordan since June 12, with her fiance and his family! They had a big Bedouin wedding bash for my daughter and her fiance...though they weren't really married yet...they will have a wedding in the US once he can come here. (It would upset the terms of the fiance visa for them to have actually gotten the marriage license...

YEEHAW the weather cooperated, and Brinton Timber was newly opened up, low 80's, light breeze...our friends called so we decided last minute to go for a ride this morning! We were worried about bugs, but our bug spray and the BRUTE on the horses proved worthy and we didn't suffer with the bugs at all.

Dusty was GREAT! No lameness at all! He was a little high headed at first (he hasn't been out for about 6 weeks due to his hoof problems..and our friends had a couple new horses...

We thought Dusty was doing well, then presented with worse limping/lameness, so Doug took him to our equine vet who was VERY thorough with him--did lots of diagnostics on Dusty including xrays--found NO evidence of laminitis or navicular, but the xrays did show that he has thin soles.

He was happy with the angle of the coffin bone WITHOUT the 3 degree pad.
He had to take the pads/shoes off to do his examination, so prescribed to put the shoes back on without the pad, but...

Can't seem to catch a break. The first Sunday in May Doug and I went to Shimek State Forest to ride. OK, we were ready to ride ALL DAY!! Took food, & loaded up JR and Dusty about 7:30 am, and got there about 9. We saddled up and were about 20 min. out and Dusty came up lame. Doug dismounted and walked him back...seemed that up/down the hills were the worst for Dusty. We loaded back up and went back home...settled Dusty in at home with some cold hosing & linimint, and since it was...

It is just gorgeous outside, and I am at WORK. PLUS we have parent/teacher conferences tonight, so I cannot even consider a short ride this afternoon.

The mud is finally drying up a bit, but we have rain forecast for the next 3 days. Last year by this time we had gone trail riding several times.

So, I think I will go visit my daughter in Chicago over the weekend. She is clearing out her apartment to give it up for the summer, & putting things in storage....
