I have a porta potty in my trailer so that's nice. I'll have to try to figure out some way to haul the water though. We would ride at Brighton right? Anyone else you want to invite would be fine with me :-) My son and probably his girlfriend will be coming with me :-)

OK, I'm going to camp over one night. What night would be better - Friday or Saturday? I'm so excited. Thanks for asking Bonnie. This will be a nice get a way for me.

Hey that sounds good. I probably won't be able to camp but I'll come over and ride. Let me check to see what day or days. Should we see if 2manypetz can come? Or anyone else?

Did you guys your hay done? Ann cancelled lessons tonight since she needs to bale and such with this georgous weather - she's taking advantage of it.

No, I didn't make Ann's Tuesday. First time not being able to go (other than vacation). I felt horrbile about it but my hubby was out of town and I had to pick up my son north of town and then my saddle was being fixed south of town and I wouldn't have made it with all that running around. I see that Ann will not be there next week and the other lady or Cassie will be teaching - so I'm kinda pumped to see how that goes. I hope Cassie will be there when I go. I really think she is good and I really enjoyed being around her.

I have been working April - lunging her these past few days though. I'm trying to get her to canter on the lunge line but she continues to trot really fast and I can get her to canter but not for very long. That was my homework from last time.

Hubby and I are nearing retirement age and got back into horses a couple of years ago. We love our horses, and love to trail ride and camp! We found a great trainer near us, and have learned so much from her, and our horses have really benefited. We nursed our big draft cross (JR) through an episode with canker in 06 - he was pretty much a rescue when we bought him. He is doing VERY well now, and has become much more than a horse to me!

Whoosh. What a day. Doug needed a prostate biopsy because his PSA has been high. Good news is that the procedure went well, and the ultrasounds look OK...though we won't know the total result until Tuesday. But, after we left the urologist's office, we went to lunch, and Doug was feeling FINE, but shortly after that he began feeling a little bad and asked me to drive...we switched places and suddenly he was feeling awful, his color went to white and he began jerking and became unresponsive while...

Sunday, we were riding with friends at Shimek... long story short, we got RAINED ON, and were an hour out when it began to pour. I was afraid it would cause JR to lose control, but it did not...he was so careful and sweet as we picked our way thru increasingly slicker trails. When we got out to the roadway down by the Lick Creek crossing north of the lower campground, we all decided to trot & thus get out of the downpour (& thunder & distant lightening) quicker. First, I gathered...

My daughter just called from New York (JFK airport) -- she had just arrived from Amman, Jordan, and will be continuing on to Chicago in a couple of hours. She has been in Petra, Jordan since June 12, with her fiance and his family! They had a big Bedouin wedding bash for my daughter and her fiance...though they weren't really married yet...they will have a wedding in the US once he can come here. (It would upset the terms of the fiance visa for them to have actually gotten the marriage license...

YEEHAW the weather cooperated, and Brinton Timber was newly opened up, low 80's, light breeze...our friends called so we decided last minute to go for a ride this morning! We were worried about bugs, but our bug spray and the BRUTE on the horses proved worthy and we didn't suffer with the bugs at all.

Dusty was GREAT! No lameness at all! He was a little high headed at first (he hasn't been out for about 6 weeks due to his hoof problems..and our friends had a couple new horses...

We thought Dusty was doing well, then presented with worse limping/lameness, so Doug took him to our equine vet who was VERY thorough with him--did lots of diagnostics on Dusty including xrays--found NO evidence of laminitis or navicular, but the xrays did show that he has thin soles.

He was happy with the angle of the coffin bone WITHOUT the 3 degree pad.
He had to take the pads/shoes off to do his examination, so prescribed to put the shoes back on without the pad, but...
