Melody's Before and After

I know there's a bazilliondy threads on before and after pictures, but I didn't want to post Melody's whole story because it would take up time on a thread that was not dedicated to her. So, I'll just make a new one so I can give the majority of details.
I found Melody on Equine.com in February of 2008.
Her face was just the sweetest thing I've ever seen. She is a Hollywood Dun It granddaughter and they had her priced REALLY cheaply (I'm talking hella cheap), so I decided to sleuth. I asked why she was priced so low and her only response was, "I just have too many horses to feed." I thought melody looked pretty good for a yearling. Then, I looked at her birth date. She's a TWO year old.
Quickly arranged to drive from Northwest Indiana to Southern Minnesota - I had to get this girl out. Upon arriving at said location...you could tell it wasn't just Melody that was in desperate need of rescuing. She had a two year old stud colt in with all her mares - with half his hoof missing. When we asked her about it, she just said, "Oh, that's Tyson..." When she pulled Melody out I was flabbergasted. My horse looked pathetic. She was underweight, in dire need of hoof care, and still had her winter coat in May. Pretty wormy. So THEN...
We stopped right when we got into Wisconsin at a Farm and Fleet to see if we could find some treats and a smaller bucket for her. Went to the back of the trailer to check on her and my heart stops. There wasn't much hay in the trailer, but the small amount there she had BOLTED. She turns her head to look at me and she's got globs of green mucus hanging out of her nose and she's coughing. I about had a heart attack - she's choking. My friend proceeded to take her out and walk her, trying to keep her coughing. We called our vets at home and obviously, they were helpless. We needed a nearby vet - FAST. Couple of minutes later, a woman pulls up and asks if we need help. Explain the situation, and she gets a hold of an emergency clinic not too far away. Staff was ready and the attending vet administered spasmolytics. Didn't work, had to pass a stomach tube. It was a pretty solid impaction, we spent three hours at the vets. Long story short...she surveved. Got her home and called the HS...
Anywho, longish story, thanks for reading - now, pictures!
At her old owners...as a yearling:

Winter of her two-year old year:

Day I got her. Her hooves:

Keep in mind...she's TWO YEARS OLD. She also had some sort of skin condition...treated it like ringworm and it EVENTUALLY went away.

Recovering, slowly but surely.

This is how bad her ringworm eventually got:

Then...she rubbed out all her mane. Atta girl.

Most recently:

^The end! Thanks for reading again, guys. I love telling her story.

She looks a million times better. I am glad that you got her out of there. Did the HS do anything about the horses?

Cowgirl, thank you.
If I'm not mistaken, the HS confiscated both Tyson and a 30-something year old mare (Mel's grandma) that was just a rack of bones...she probably didn't survive long after, unfortunately.

You are welcome. That is great that they got the other horses out of there.
