Maths!

In part of keeping this thread alive i thought i would ask you guys for some help hehe

I wrote my maths exam yesterday and i thought it went fine but now the more i think about it the more i realise i made stupid mistakes and got stuff wrong, and this is the 2nd time im writing Now im ******** out because i still have the harder paper to write next week and i don't really know what to do lol.

So the question is how did you guys study for maths if at all? Because maths is really illogical to me lol

hmm lets see i myself am not very good at maths.. hah im only average maths student

i like to open my textbook and make sure i can do all the problems i lay eyes on..
and i also go through my previous work
i include examples throughout my work book from the start and keep it neat
having kept in mind it will make everything so much easier when i look back later on
so then i dont have to re-write EVERYTHING all over again..
its always of GREAT help to start from the very start and this includes not delaying your homework.

this is roughly what i do and suggest

1. go through the list of topics covered one at a time
making sure you know each questions correctly

2. anything you dont understand be sure to mark it somehow (circle in red for eg.) then ask your teacher, dont be scared to! do multiple similar questions till you are familiar with it.

3. Review everything right before the exam
concentrate on weak areas

4. take breaks! dont overwork yourself

5. some sort of flash cards
or just cover the question or answer/formula with your hand see if you remember

Also if something i find is complicated.. go back to basics

Remember! revise throughout the weeks
don't leave it to the last minute and think you can remember by packing all the information the night before

Finally! get off this site and study! - haha jokes

oh okay. The 's' on the end really threw me off. I don't get what you mean when you said you "wrote" do you have to write a paper on something? All we do at my school in math is just like book work and tests and stuff. I am really confused but i'd really like to help you if i can! : ]

At the end of the year we have to write a math exam, where its like a huge test but it actually counts for something, and if you don't pass you have to write again next year until you do. There is 2 papers, one is without a calculator and the other is a harder paper with a calculator.

I went through the first paper with my teacher and i didn't do as badly as i thought and i definately passed but i just have to write the 2nd paper. I was just wondering how you guys studied for a math test/exam really?

I just need a couple of tips, i should be fine as i have learned all the formulas and gone through all the rules, so im hoping it will all work out.

Okay now i get it. Sorry about that.
As for me i don't tend to study as much but helpful tips i would say is look over all the material to get a basis of what you DO know. Maybe touch up a little on it but focus on the stuff that you don't know so well. Just practice and practice. Do problems from the book or go back and look at examples and try to come up with a system in your head how to remember the steps. Also graphing calculators are so much help!!! Hopefully that helps a little? :]
