Post Mare's blaze keeps shedding!!! Why?

Both my mares have white markings on their faces. One has a blaze and the other a Star. All year round the markings shed. Why? My neighbor's gelding has a white stripe that never sheds. Is there anything I can do to prevent shedding?

I thought my horses star was sheeding alot too, until I realized DUH! Its just looks like its shedding alot because it's white and standing out against his chestnut fur!
If you sure its not that though, there may be a fungus or something thats causing hair loss.

My horses do that too. One also has a star, and the other a blaze. I figure it is from the fact that i dont curry their face and they cant get a good enough angle to scatch at it. The hair has to stay until it falls out by itself. (itchy dont you think?) So i might an effort, to curry there, and do some itching for them.

But also it might be a fungus. Have your vet take a look if you arent sure.

Yeah, it does seem like the white markings shed a lot. I have a soft face brush that works good, plus I have a gelding with a huge blaze who hates getting brushed on the face, so I use my hand and a sponge when he gets hosed off.

white markings always seem to shed more - but i think its just cause we always notice white hairs more.

I have a bay paint and it always seems like the white sheds more than the bay because it stands out.
