Mare in season ALOT

Ok it's that time of the season... (in australia), and Alice will be going to stud next month...and it's been really good at this new agistment, as there's other horses that will let me know when she's in season, also my friends pony stallion is there, so that's good.
But omg...she's been inseason nearly every day this week, and it's only ment to last 4 days, like she was in season at the start of August then on the 12th, then yesterday and today....is that normal? Also if she's inseason so much how the **** am i ment to tell the right time to take her...well i spose if she's really showing it to the gelding she'll be right to serve...like she could have been served today waaa..have to wait till next month.
I'm worried it's not normal....

mare's heat cycle can last up to 6-8 days. I have had them last longer. What exactly are you asking?

5-7 days every 21 days is normal. One reason I never buy a mare with a big attitude change during heat.

My yearlings all started coming into heat at about 16 months they were miserable! However they were only in one time and haven't been back in so it's not necessarily real regular.

Since we are on the topic... do mares ever go through menopouse (spelled wrong.) Stop coming into heat? At what age if they do, and how do you tell?

I just thought it wasn't normal for her to come into season so often.

She did on: the 3rd of Aug, then the 12th, then yesterday.

Do you know if she's actually in heat, or is she just squealish? It's possible that she's sort of...taken a liking to a horse/horses at the new barn. Was she not around geldings at the old place? Change of scenery can affect that.

Also, how long have you had her? I took on an older rescue mare (about 20-22) who was very underweight and receiving poor feed and care. Once she started getting proper nutrition, she was constantly in heat, or at least very squealy.

she was still inseason today.

Um iv'e had her since 2003, she's 7.
No she wasn't really near any geldings at the other place. Shhe's been at the new place for about 2 months, and only started to show interests in the geldings this month.

I think it's ok, but if it's still the same by next month i'm gonna ask the vet what he thinks about it.

Thanks
