Mare due April 22

Diablo is due April 22, which is 350 days. She is showing no signs of being ready to foal in the next 5 days. So I guess I am going for the overtime, lol. Her vulva hasnt relaxed, she only has about half a milk bag, muscles around tail have softened a little bit but not much. This is her second foal. So now I am going to be real anxious.

I will be the first to say it .. Horses don't have due dates, only etimated dates of foaling that people place on them.

Godd luck and best wishes!

Oh I know that, lol just frustrating because I have high hopes for this baby. I am expecting a lot of color, and hoping for a black appy, lol.

Repeat after me: "There's no such thing as a due date in the equine! There's no such thing as a....." <smile>.

So you think she's going to go over 370 days? <lol>...You've got LOTS of time before you're overtime.

It always surprises me how people begin panicking when their mares go over the 340 day mark. I've got two mares out in pasture right now. Neither show any signs of impending foaling. Both are at 340 days +. I look at their breeding dates to get an idea of when to bring them up where I can keep an eye on them - I like to bring them up around 310 days. But, other than that, I watch the mare, not the calendar. When they start showing signs of impending foaling, then they are brought in at night and watched closely. Otherwise, I don't worry <smile>. I've got enough grey hairs without adding needless worries.

Good luck!
