| Senior Member+ | Mane Rubbing
My colt is rubbing his mane out by sticking his head through the front rails of his pipe corral (5 rail). He can't stick his head out the sides because it is 7 rail and the gaps are too small. He's already rubbed a small chunk out of his mane and I dont want it to get any bigger... Eventually we are going to weld horse mesh to the pipes. In the meantime something must be done. I know there are lots of options out there i.e. plastic mesh, wire mesh, etc. What would you guys do, how would you attach it, etc. I need something that is easy to do and costeffective. Thanks

Maybe put some electric fencing between the wires? That might be kinda dangerous though, but it would give him something to think twice about.....

The pipe corrals ar 12 x 24 and I have no electricity on top of my hill (although I am aware there are solar chargers). How difficult would this type of system be to set up on pipe corrals? Most things I have seen included different types of mesh, baling twine, chain link fencing... Anybody tried electric on small pipe corrals?

Umm...I would use elelctric...works great for our horses...but for now...if you put infusium 23 leave in stuff on his mane...it may help him not to scratch as much...many people at my barn do it and it has worked wonders for their horses
