Mane is TOO thin

Red's mane is really thin and getting long but not so long that it needs to be pulled. In 3 weeks we have a show and a big one so he needs to look his best. I'm afraid that if i pull it for the show it will be too thin and his braid will looks really bad. What can i do between now and then?

Also the top half of his mane is nice and stright the bottom half has more growing in that is about 1 inch long to sit stick up and is fuzzy then the rest lies flat. is there anything i can do or just try to ignore it and let it grow in. It is going to make his braids look messy but it hair to too short to be included in the braid... can anything be done?

Any help is appreciated!

The best way to get a mane to grow thick is to trim it, cut off the stringy, thin stuff. Then, try shapely's MTG. It really does work. Unfortunately, I don't think that three weeks is going to be enough time to get it to thicken and grow out, but it will be a start, and if you do it now, but the end of the summer it will be looking really good, and by next show season it will look great, thick and long.

Absolutely! I trimmed my 2 year old filly's mane when she was a year old & it has grown back thick & soft. Shapley's MTG is great stuff! It's good for rain rot, hair growth, shiny coat, etc...

If it is really thin, just cut it, since you will be braiding the mane anyway you won't be able to tell that it is cut and since it's so thin you don't need to pull it cause it's thin enough to braid.

what my friend did was after she pulled it, she kept the hair and then at show time she plaited it into her mane, that way it was thicker- thats an idea

You shake the bottle really well first (it seperates). Then I just flip the little spout open, hold Regal's halter (cause it makes him want to shake and get it all over ME) and squirt a line of it right down the base of his mane. I take a rubber brush and then work it in just a little. I think you are *supposed* to massage it in, but the stuff STINKS like cured meat and the smell doesn't wash off your hands! For the tail I just squirt a little on the base and let it trickle down. I put it on every other day, no need to rinse off the last application. I can definitely tell its working.

Yes, it works great. It's messy and smelly, but I think that's why it works! The sulfur in it makes it smell like jerky, and it's pretty oily, but I put it in my horses tail once a week since February, plus I sheeted it, I just took it out last week and it's grown almost 4 inches and it's really thick.

I put it on his mane and it's probably grown two and half inches since Feb and it's also really thick. I just shake it, pour it on and rub it in about once a week.
