Mane

Hi everybody, K - I'll cut to the chase... Quervo's mane has been bothering me, no real reason, it just is. So, I've been thinking *deep breath* of just taking some clippers and clipping it off. It'll grow back, and we don't show... So... What do you think?

Do you have pics of it? What's wrong with it? Just short or thin or does it not stay on the same side?

He's a QH, so no, it's not "normal" for him. I don't know, just, I've wanted to... What else could I do with it? right now it's about 3 inches long. It stays on one side, but it lays lots of different directions (it's hard to explain), so it doesn't look even, but if it's lying flat (w/ gel or water) then it's even... so. I don't know. I can think about it.

I shave quervo's bridal path, and it takes about 7 or 8 months for it to grow an inch... So I'm not worried about it growing back...

I don't know...I guess you guys are against it. I'll let you know what I decide.

The barn I work for has a Shire mare. Her rider wanted her mane roached so she would look more "butch"(she's a police horse). At the end of the year, he decided to let it grow out---I told him it would taker upwards of a year to do so and look horrible for a while. Of course, I was an ignorant groom and knew nothing so my warning was brushed aside, Long story short,Knightmare is going on her 2nd year of having a roached mane after her rider saw that the foolish groom was right. Good side, she may not look horribly imposing roached but she does look very tidy. Quarterhorses can have roached manes, when I was growing up all the Quarterhorses at the base stables were roached
