Making your own crystal/rhinestone tack?
Hey everyone,
Me and my best friend want to "bling" our horses' tack for an upcoming show. Has anyone ever made their own crystal/rhinestone horse tack? We want to "bling" our nylon headstalls, reins, and breast collars!!
We have pretty much looked at every option...BUT we haven't tried anything yet.
We have looked at:
~BeDazzler - The setters don't seem long enough to go through the nylon.
~Crystal Rivets (sold in the leather-work section) - Again, will they be long enough to go through the nylon?
~HotFix Iron-on Rhinestones - Will these stick on well enough?
~"Diamonds" on a chain (sold at craft stores by the yard) - Doesn't give you that much variety since its on a chain...
From previous experience, we know that hot gluing them on is a pain (burnt fingers and the stones fall off!) But will super glue work any better??
Are there any other ways that we can do this? Pics would be awesome as well!
THANKS!!!!

all i can think of is hot glue or gorilla glue that stuffs really strong!!

I used a glue that was in the crafts department. It's for jewelry and can stick metal to glass
I blinged out my show halter and made a new halter jacket

My daughter and I make Swarovski crystal magnetic number pins and we use a glue called E6000 that you can get at the craft store, or the craft section of Wal-Mart, etc.. It may be the same one that you use and I would recommend it. It is a very powerful glue and you have to be over 18 to buy it (at least in Fla.) and use it outdoors or in a very well ventilated area.

I wouldn't use a hot glue gun. It might melt the nylon. (and I speak from experiance...)

i do not like the hotset crystals. they dull quickly and then look cheap. i wish i could help you but i've only blinged leather.

I think you've gotta go riveted if you want it to last more than one or two shows on a horse.
Horses are hard on stuff!
