Major Power Outage

In my area of Illinois, and right across the river into Iowa, we have been without power since Saturday. I actually watched 6 power poles break in half and fall over, and watched the lines shoot down the middle of the road, sparks going everywhere. About a 1/4 mile down the road from me there were 3 poles down, and lines down on just about every road out here.

I now know how Lindsayanne felt. Woo. The power went out saturday as I was watching my favorite movie, Gladiator. This was about 2:30.
So we spent all night laying around, talking. Fixed grilled cheese and tomato soup by candlelight (thank you gas stove!)
Sunday, the town where my sister lives got power back, but it was around 8 at night. Me, dad and Jeremy were at my aunts house. We had 3 kerosene lanterns and a heater hooked to an LP tank hooked up. So we had light and SOME heat. We rigged up a complete redneck TV. They have foaling cams and a little TV to watch them on, so we pulled the TV out of the barn where it was, and somehow rigged up some power cords to a car battery and we managed to get one station in. When that poo.ped out on us we played pitch.
Monday, spent the day with my sister and Jeremy. We were getting on each others nerves. And last night, around 11:30, our power came back on.

The damage is pretty bad. For one, my neighbors water lines snapped and that directly effects ours. We have some NASTY water going through our lines, full of mud. So we've had some hydrants going to clear them while the plumbers fix her lines. She's in Texas btw.
All the food in our fridge and freezer is spoiled. We salvaged our milk by burying it in the snow outside haha.
I no longer want to spend the rest of my life with Jeremy. I'm telling you, we got on each others nerves. I snapped on him a couple times, and he did the same to me. Thankfully, today we are fine. Back in good spirits. We couldn't get away from each other...it was downright scary

Haha. I'm kidding about no longer wanting to be with him.
But sharing a non flushable toilet...oh no. Can't do that anymore.

So. Just checking in. Sher isn't far from me, I'm wondering if she had power? And haltergirl? I know countryacres probably lacked some power at some point.

I tried to get some pictures of the snapped poles but couldn't find my camera...

So. It's great to have power again!

They say the best way to test out a new spouse or roommate is to go wilderness camping with them or hang out with them during a long term power outage!

Glad to hear everyone is fine, or getting there.

During the middle of the night when we both smelled, I couldn't sleep and he was snoring, I will admit I had the pillow ready to smother him

But he's at work now. I'm getting ready to go love on Baby and Lucky, so we are fine haha!

Yes, that's what you said. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you...power outage and all haha!

Let's see. It's in a small area called the Quad Cities, about 30 minutes from Davenport Iowa. Moline, Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf.
I'm about...oh boy. An hour or more from Springfield but if you are going down there I can surely go. I'll pack Jeremy up and we'll have a road trip!

Sweet! LOL Brad will be coming to if we go so they can bond over bull riding stories LOL!!! It just depends where my brother ends up in the standings for HSR (he does saddle bronc). Top 2 in Alberta go to National Finals (in Springfield this year), #3-6 go to Silver State in Fallon, Nevada. He's #4 right now but the season is only half over! So we won't know for sure until June. But I'll let you know LOL

You'll be staying overnight there then right?
Cause we'll probably end up getting a room and staying overnight, rather than being up all night driving home.
