This problem has weighed me down for a while now but hasn't bothered me as much as it has the past couple of months. Awhile back (maybe 2, 3 summers I can't really remember) I was playing on my neighbour's trampoline and we were jumping out of a tree.. well to cut the story short I was double bounced so naturally flew up in the air, hitting the trampoline and tree somehow.. all I know is my back had MAJOR spasms after that.. I went to the doctor but I felt he didn't help me any.. all he did was tell me to touch my toes and he pushed my shoulders down.. making my back spass some more and told me to take some pills. Well during this summer I had a job lifting some 20-30lbs of boxes and what not.. I picked up the boxes properly EVERY TIME (mainly because I was always being watched and they told me whether or not I was picking it up right). But I think that added to the strain I have now. One time when I was picking out Tango's hoof my back got stuck.. literally.. it was really painful. But I feel a pain in my back everytime I get up or sit down, when I ride Tango, I have trouble sleeping, running.. I can't believe how much it's affected me.. and I can't believe I already have back problems at 16. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow because I've put it off long enough.. I'm just scared they're going to tell me I can't ride horses, or play soccer.. I'm scared of going to the doctor because they've NEVER helped me and I'm just really scared of doctors (sorry if anyone's a doctor here Yah I'm just really scared.. I hate doctors

Go see a Nucca Chiropractor. I wouldn't be walking w/o mine. Seriously. Not regular chiro, NUCCA.

I've learned with having a mother that went through 2 back surgeries and a husband that slipped 2 disks in his lower back that once you get a back injury you're always suspetiable to another. Once my husband went back to work his back still isn't right and it will spasm on him. I agree with Miss Bandit, see if a Chiropractor can help! Did you ever hear back from the Dr.?

Hey Kizzy how are you-besides this- its nice to "see" you. I don't know if you know or not but about 2 years ago I sprained a large muscle in my back. I went to an osteopath to find out about what the problem was and he did absolutely nothing. He asked me to bend over and touch my toes and when I couldn't (normally I'm very athletic) he had the nerve to say to me "don't worry not everyone is flexible" what a jerk anyways like I said before HE DID NOTHING. Then I broke my back this August. They told me in the hospital to go to an osteopath and that he/she would tell me to wear a back brace. Well that doc wanted me to wait 2 weeks before he would see me with a broken back!!!! But told me to keep VERY still and try not to move at all until I could get a back brace on. Meanwhile I'm in tons of pain so I went to a chiro. After throughly looking at my X-rays he told me that not moving/putting a back brace on was the WORST thing for me to do, since it wasn't allowing enough blood flow to my back to reduce the swelling. Sure enough I feel much better with moving around slightly. Moral of the story(which turned into a vent-sorry) is that I really don't think regular doc's are given enough schooling to handle a back problem. I think that the regular doc's are in the dark ages with their treatments for back problems. Go see a good chiro who will give you an evaluation, not one that will just do the same adjustments to you that they give to everyone else. |

Don't be scared. I fell off a horse onto a wood floor as a young teen and had side effects similar to yours. Seeing a chiropractor (after a car wreck) made a world of difference. There are things you can do to alleviate symptoms some, like stretches, good thick soles & support on shoes/sneakers, lowdose over-counter pain meds, even avoiding cotton sheets w/ coton pj's; I swear they cling to each other. You'll feel so much better if/after a Dr can diagnose the prob & tell you what to do @ it.
