Unhappy lump?? what could it be?

o.k well today i took will for a walk an on the way round i noticed he has a lump on the inside of his hind leg!

now the lump sticks out quite alot like a mound an looks like it has a head like scab type thing on it!

well the BM wasnt there to take a look an nor were anyone else i could ask

now my first thought was it could be a sarcoid!

but what other possibilities could it be

sorry dont have a pic!

hummm above his hock on the inside.....I really don't know, he is not lame? it don't hurt, it can't be too serious, have someone look at it...but it don't sound like a life threatening issue, I would have it looked at though....good luck...can you get a pic of it?....Cathy

A scarcoid would not develop that quickly, overnight.

It could just be a nasty bug bite - Sam gets these sometimes - they have a little scab where he was "attacked" by the evil bug and they come up in big hard lumps - they go down after a while and dont bother him at all

Sarcoids look like little warts when they start and they take quite a while to develop into big lumps so it is likely that you would have noticed it before

My horse has a lump where he had a absessed molar and a calcium deposit formed. But I don't know if one would form that quickly and on the leg for that matter. With my horse the whole thing has harded into bone on his face. You said that the lump is hard in the middle, if the rest of the lump feels like it is filled wtih tooth paste than it is probably a calcium deposit. But if it is harding it really shouldn't bother him in anyway, but he will have it for the rest of his life.

I found a lump on my mare earlier this year. I probably should not have but I squeezed it and got the puss out of it. I finally got it all out and there was a hard thing in it that looked like a small tick in it. I put some cream on it and it has not came back. Without seeing it it is hard to tell. Maybe this will help you try to diagnose it anyways.
