Thumbs down Lost, a herd of cattle, a cattle dog, but found the cat

This is not my week.

First we found that darn cat. Wasn't missing it at all.

This morning I got a phone call, are we caretaking this property?. Yes.

"Oh, in that case I should tell you I have a herd of cattle, and I think they belong on that property."

So off I toddle to look at this herd, yes, it is the one we are caretaking. It was where it was meant to be last night. I don't need this. I am supposed to be leaving for town to make it in time for some appointments. ARGH.

Go home, get the rest of the family and we round up the cattle, walk them down the road and back into one of their paddocks. There is no water in there though and not much feed.

Then notice the dog is missing. She was there last night and not the sort to wander. Hope she hasn't been kicked and down somewhere. Searched and not a sign of her.

Went to the neighbouring block where there is a dozer working. He saw the dog yesterday when he put the cattle back. Seems they had been out the day before and he had kindly pushed them back.

Go home, get changed and go to town.

Come home and the rest of the family went off to deal with the animals whilst I put shopping away and started dinner.

There is still no sign of the dog. She is a lovely though aged little thing. I really am worried something has happened to her.

Hubby is off to ride the boundary tomorrow and repair the fence where ever it is broken.

Sheesh what a cr.appy way to start a day. I'm sorry things started that way, but at least you got the cattle back safe and sound. I hope you find your dog. I'm sending good thoughts your way

Thanks, it isn't our dog that is missing, it is the property dog. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Donna, I am really worried bout the dog being missing. She doesn't wander at all. Every day, she is there to greet us and play with the kids.

She is a beautifully natured dog. We have checked all the places we thought she may be, but she is not to be found.

I am really hoping she hasn't been bitten by a snake. She is good at bringing down the goanna's so could have tried a snake.

Tomorrow, I will take my dog down and see if he can find her.

Poor dog. Poor YOU. I hope the dog returns unharmed. Hopefully you can keep those cattle in their own pasture. Oh, what a day you were having. Best of luck for the rest of your stay.

We arent staying on the property, it is down the road from us. We just go twice a day to feed and check things.

Hubby has just gone down to push the cattle into another paddock and find the hole in the fence. Then he will fix it.

Last night they found the ponies, they must have been out in one of the back paddocks. They were supposed to have been rounded up and removed last weekend.

ARGH.
