Looking for tall boots...

Hey Im going to be shpiing for tall boots soon and I was wondering if anyone had some brand recomendations.

I want ones with-

Spainish top
Zipper
Slim ankle.
Good quality.
Must have the option of "tall" (and wide but thats questionable)

Im want the ones by grand prix and they dont come in alot of sizes which I find weird for a 500 dollar boot.I friend has them and I love the way they look. Anyone know where I can find the grand prix elite boot? Some places only have certain sizes etc

I would suggest going to your local tack shop and asking for a fitting or visit Doversaddlery.com

Finding a tack store with someone that really knows how to fit boots is your best best.

I have show boots made by Mountain Horse that meet all your requirements, and have a footbed/insole made like a sport tennis shoe- they are SO comfortable even brand new. I think mine are the 'high caliber' model.

I really like those mountain horse boots, I never thought I'd be so pleasantly surpised with a brand I have never heard of! Plus they are so inexpenive

I tried on the mountain horse ones in the tack shop one day for fun and they didnt make a size small enough around that would fit my calf and was still tall enough. Darn legs!

Yeah I think MH boots are made for those of us with larger calves. It was one of the only companies I could find that made a boot that would fit me. I can't wait for my new ones to arrive!!! (crossing fingers that they arrive by friday)

I love my MH winter boots. SOOO warm and comfy (which is a must for Upstate NY). Too bad I'm going to be moving to NC where it's so warm. I probably will hardly need them. :\

NotFadeAway - something to keep in mind. The zipper of the tall boots do not last long. I just had to throw out a pair of zippered tall boots, because the zippers failed. I brought them to tack shops and shoe repair shops. The zippers cannot be replaced, as the leather "warps" over time.

Ariat zippers don't last long.... I'm on my second pair of non-ariat zip ups and my last pair's foot died before the zippers did.

Yeah if you do an HGS search for ariat zip you'll find a ton of threads talking about their unreliability. I'm sure certain lines of cheap boots have issues as well. I was looking at devon-aire nouvelle zips but heard from a number of sources that they had unreliable quality.

There have also been threads where people have gotten them repaired. Another option is to have zippers installed. I think there was a post where someone mentioned getting zippers put in their boots for $30. It might be worth it if you know a good leather shop.
