I'm just curious if drafts are supposed to have such short necks?? Excuse my ignorance.

depends on the breed. Barbants/belgians...heavy breeds like that do have short necks

From what I've seen of Brabants, that first stallion is an excellent example.

If you are looking for a nice working sized working bred draft, he is a good choice for your mare. He sure looks like he will improve on the length of your mares back and he's closer coupled in body and legs than your mare which will transfer over to a more compact heavy horse foal. However, if you are looking for something to ride, he's not going to make you happy. He looks to throw himself greatly into the foal and one that close coupled is NOT a joy to ride.

I do like him pretty much as a working line horse and bet he's got power to spare.

The working lines are. They are pretty much "less" everything except mass, but they make up for it in power that is often more than the Hitch lines.

I agree with Doublebar. Great stud for a work horse, but he will add so much more thickness to your mare. Not a good choice for a riding horse.

Actually he is smaller then my mare.....my mare is 16 hands and 1900-2000 lbs. and the bay roan stallion is 15.3-16 hands and 1700 lbs.....the stallion as more bone in the legs but my mare is wider then the stallion

My mare about the same distance away picture
