why pull it if your not going to show, instead just trim in to a shorter length, but I think it looks nice long.

shes only 7, I've had her for about 6 weeks, her last owner, 4 months...I want to have her all set for if I do plan to show some time...she needs to be a seasoned pro at the grooming at least, can't have her jumping around, but why not pull it even if I'm not showing? I'm not bringing it Wayyyy back, i would cry lol, just taking off some of the uneven, and tidying it up, its not going to be short short lol, just enough to take it off her neck, so it flatters her more...shes not built to support a short mane imo

I couldn't do anything today, as it was raining, and she was soggy lol...but tomorrow won't rain until a little later, so I'll work with her for about an hour, or at least until shes good and sweaty, then i'll work on pulling her mane, and then after that I'll trim up the rest of her, and get some shots

ok, just make sure you don't pull it all in the same day, do it over about a week because it makes the horse sore.

I would clip a bridle path then pull the mane if you want it shorter. Or keep some of the length.

Romi's mane was a bit on the wild side when I got her, took me an hour to pull to a decent length.

Her mane is pretty I would just even the length a little and condition it. That forlock is a great fly deterrent for summer.

Your mares mane, while long, also appears to be rather thin, like my TB. His looks awful in the spring after it has grown over the winter and he too, has a very thin neck. Here is what his looks like after I hit it with the scissors.

I give him an ear length bridle path, and then pull his mane over to the opposite side it naturally lays THEN trim it. That way, when it flops back to it's natural side, you don't have that straight line blunt cut look. I also leave the middle about an inch longer than the top and bottome (ear side and wither side. It looks pretty natural without the pain of pulling, and is super simple to keep up.

PS..he naturally has that whispy little "foal" forlock. I think you could actually count the hairs if you wanted too. LOL

I will try that next cut on my TB mare, pulling the mane to the opposite side that is. Right now I am just combing it up straight up in the air to do the initial cut, that kind of layers it a bit, then I clean it up with it combed in place. She always wiggles when I cut her maneso it gets shorter as the cut goes on.

I feel your pain. I solve that problem by getting the job done while he's in his breakfast grain bucket. I attach it to the second rail from the bottom (see pic) so I have a nice even playing field.
