Long-lasting fly sprays?

I have seen some fly sprays advertising "10-14 days of protection" and similar things. Others that say something to like "use daily for three days, then every three to five days", etc. I did not realize fly sprays could last that long!

Anyone have experience with these long-lasting fly sprays? If so, how well do they work?

Not as well as they claim -thats for sure! I use Tri tec 14 - its good if you use it for three or four days in a row and then i can skip to every other day - but i use a light mist after the first five or six days. It depends on whether you mean no flys whatso ever on them- or a few- i have a hang up with flys and i dont want one to even land much less bite- so to me if they come out with one that really does that- id be happy! but so far the closest i have come is tri tec- I noticed the sprays that work the best for me are the ones with Cypermethrin in them- also - the ones with sunscreen are the ones that last the longest - thats why they add it- the general rule is the sunscreen stops the flyspray from breaking down and losing potency - Endure has almost the same ingrediants as the Tri tec but with a water proof formula added- not sure if i can say it does work that way- i think the tri tec works better but thats just me. I wanted to give Solitude a try- has anyone tried it yet? the spray i mean not the pour on- its made by Pfizer- its supposed to work pretty good and my vet said he would get me some at his cost - not sure how much it is but......

I HATE bugs! I am definately more of the "not one bug even near the horse" type myself! I can't stand bugs buzzing around and irritating me so I certainly would not want it for my horse!

Well it is not long lasting but Pyrannah works great on the trail rides. Keeps deer flies off which is a wonder, those nasties are viscious. I used Tri-tech before but did not notice it lasting, may try it again next time I buy spray.

buy some 10% permethrin concentrate. it's about $18 a quart and will make more fly spray than you can use in a year.

I use Endurance on my mare. It lasts for 14 days through sweat and water and such. But you have to start out spraying every 3 days, then every 5 days, and so on(I forget the rest of the directions). It's worked for me
