| Senior Member | *pics added*How long does rice bran usually take to start working?
I am feeding rice bran to my old gelding. How long does it usually take until you can visibly see a difference? I know it varies depending on the individual horse, but if you have used rice bran...how long was it for you? Here are pictures... (He is really dirty. I did not brush him off before the pics)

When I first started feeding RB to my gelding to get weight on him, I noticed a difference within 2 weeks. It will take longer to notice a difference in the coat condition.

Your results will also depend on how much you're feeding.

I am feeding the max. that they recommend (4 cups a day) I feed 2 cups a.m. and 2 cups p.m. His coat has always been really healthy, it is just his weight. I started him on it July 22 and I have not noticed much of a difference.

Are you feeding Pellet/Powder or Liquid? What's the fat content of the Rice Bran you're feeding? If it's Pellet/Powder, how much does the 2 cups weigh?

When I started it I noticed the difference within about 3 weeks. And when I pulled my guy off of it I noticed a difference with in the week. Added it back and within a week he was back to normal. He's one of those horses who really seem to do well on rice bran. If she's feeding pellets/powder, I know for me 4 cups of either is right at the 2lb mark. So 2 cups should be about 1lb. |

What product exactly are you feeding? Typically feed changes will take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to notice significant changes. (Largely depending upon what the previous diet was and what the new feedstuff is adding to the iet.) |

It is Natural Glo and he gets 2 lbs per day and it is the powder form. Here is the info on it... http://www.admani.com/AllianceEquine...edRiceBran.htm
