Lol, I'm going to a hunter show...

Haha, I think that's amusing for some reason. I never thought I'd be back at a hunter show (my last one was 7 years ago...I was in 6th grade), I've been pretty stuck on dressage for the past year and a half. But my jump trainer has been helping me with my hot little Arab, pro bono, for the past couple weeks while I've been taking jumping lessons on her TB. So she came up to me (after schooling my horse for me) and said there is a 3 day hunter/jumper show in Vegas in January and she'd like me to think about taking Nova in the flat/trot pole classes and Casanova (her horse) in a cross pole class or two. I'm really excited to ride Cas, because I've been riding him in lessons and he's a real fun horse to jump. He gets kind of hot, but I guess you can just trot during the smaller classes? I mean, I can canter him around corners and stuff but I can't get enough of a hold on him cantering to the jumps yet so I'd preffer to trot them.

I'm all excited! Lol, I've been sitting here biting my nails for a dressage show to be announced in Vegas and I don't think they start until March. So I was all "yes!" when she asked if I wanted to go. So now I really have to get on top of ordering myself a new pair of tall boots (mine passed to my mother because my calves are now too big ). And I want to get a hunt coat, as the only coat I have is black, and I want to be stylish and have like a gray or something. And I want a colored shirt! Hehe, maybe green. And I have to get a fleece saddle pad. I'll just have to make due with my Wintec A/P for Nova, it's black...hope I don't stick out too much. Heh.

Anyways, just thought I'd share. I really like my trainer, I've just started riding with her and she's made such an effort to help me out and work with me and Nova just on her own time. And she doesn't even bat an eye when I get all chicken and tell her I'm afraid of the verticals she puts up for me. Haha, I do wonder how some of my trainers have managed to work with me through the years, I do make the biggest fusses about a lot of things. I've been bitten by the horse show bug again, my last show wa slast July, so I'm ready to get back in the ring. Even if I will be going hunters.

BTW - these are the boots I'm going to get. I've seen the Mountain Horse ones and have heard nothing but good stuff. This is the next notch up from the ones I've seen other people wear but they're considerably less expensive than teh Ariats I had...and they still have that look to them. http://www.doversaddlery.com/product...r+Field+Boot_E_

That's awesome though...doing all these disciplines really makes u a very well-rounded horse person, and that's something to definitly be proud of! Good luck at the show and have fun!

Thanks! I will, but I'm super afraid to jump infront of people...except like two, my trainer...and my mom. Any time my trainer whips out her video camera I freeze up. I will have to get over that in a hurry.

I'm hoping to try out Western pleasure too! Lol, some day. I don't have the money for a saddle, but I figure I'm young and I need to learn to ride every discpline before I'm too old and set in my ways.

Haha, congrats!!! You'll have fun!!

I was thinking about showing Queen in some O/F classes next month, just maybe 2' to see how she does. I was thinking I'd just trot all the fences because Queen is a star trotting fences, but she really rushes at the canter. But then I realized....how the **** could I keep her at a trot through an entire course? If she got ONE canter stride in there, we'd be done for in a hunter class.....if you can keep Cas in a trot the whole course, you're my hero!!!

That's so great, well done! You are obviously ready for it if your trainer was the one that asked you if you wanted to ride. I'm very happy for you. Good luck and keep us posted!

Those boots are really nice.

Awesome! I'm sure you'll do fantastically. Just relax and enjoy yourself!

I love those boots! I have been using mountain horse boots for all the years I've been riding and have nothing but good comments to say about them!

Ooh, you have to stay in a trot? Lol, I dunno if that will work, he does canter off the jumps. Maybe I'll just canter the whole thing and hold on for dear life. It's not like I haven't ridden a more foreward horse than him before...but I dunno about form over fences going quite that fast. Lol.

Thanks BOP, I miss being out there with you guys too! This place can't really compare.
