Lime on Horse pasture
Any idea how long horses should remain off a 12 acre field that has been limed?

Horses can be on it the very same day... we have never moved ours. The lime is calcium... it is also what is used to dry out stalls.

Doesn't it have to be powdered lime ?

Thank you. The lime is powered, just lots of it

They spread it here in pastures with cows and horses on it all the time... never know of a problem. A friends dog ate a bunch of it once and his excrement had quite the smell but other than that he was fine... he is now a 12 year old boxer and I think he was about two the time he ate almost a bag of it.

Our vet told us just to leave them off until after the first good rain. Said it could burn their hooves?? Dont know from personal experience, just what he told me.
