leg/polo wraps????

***mods you can switch if in wrong section =)***

So I was thinking of getting these polo/leg wraps for Lakota, ever since she got hurt I want her to have the extra support. Her back leg (the one that she got the rope burn on) swells when she is worked. She doesn't favor the leg anymore and will willingly run herself. She gets ran pretty hard on days that I ride (which is on average 3-4 times a week, and don't worry I haven't ran her at ALL since she has been hurt). She does a lot of trotting and I race her against the other girls horses for fun. I want her to have the extra support on her legs. She does a lot of "out of the blue things" every now and again that cuases little stress on her legs, but ever since her leg injury I want her to be as supported and protected as possible-i mean the legs are what keeps a horse alive ;-)

Anyways, can you tell me if these would work and/or what I should be looking for?

You'd be better off with a sports boot of some kind. A lot of people don't think that polos give support.

I think.

Or I may be wrong. I have a huge headache and am not..all here today. hehe

They aren't splint boots, they're sport medicine boots.

Yes, you can use them on the hind legs, as well.

Splint boots offer more protection for the horse in case the horse knocks itself with a hoof or something. Doesn't offer much in way of protecting the tendons or anything.

okay i see...would the ones i posted work you think? for both back and front? her previous owner used things close to those for her when she went on long trail rides so she didnt get her legs cut, but i want them for the support AND protection...sorry for all the questions. i was told to look for polowraps because they said they support their legs

Polo wraps don't support a horse's legs. if they do, it's a negligible amount. I use polos at horse shows to keep my horse's legs clean, which they do a good job of btw. For trail riding I wouldn't recommend them either, too much of a chance that they'll come undone.

Sports medicine boots will support their legs. That's what they're made for.
