Question Leather Repair

I wondered how long it would take before it happened, but it finally did. We broke a Miracle Collar. It ALMOST made it a year something like 10 months but thats pretty good.

The strap that broke is the one that goes behind the ears, and it broke in the hole it buckles in.

Is it going to be worth it to find someone to repair it or should I just buy a new one?

I have done my best to keep them oiled and cared for but the weather and the horses are both hard on them.

I have a person a few miles away from me that makes horse stuff and is big into biothane. I thought about seeing if he could replace the straps with biothane. I just met him this past fall and he is FABULOUS in leather and biothane work. He can make anything you want, in really nice quality for a great price. He lives like 5 miles from me and I never knew it.

Do you think if I did have it repaired with Biothane that it would cause rubbing problems?

Any suggestions?

I used to use a Miracle Collar on Abe. I would be thinking along the same lines you are about the Biothane rubbing. I would have it repaired with leather. I found a weekly cleaning and conditioning to help preserve the life of the leather. Eventually, I bought a second one and rotated the two collars.
