Question Leather Halter

I have a few questions about them.

1)What color goes best on a black horse?

2)How hard is it to get a nameplate on them?

3)Do they wear easy?

That's all I can think of!Lol.Thanks in advance!

I've never used them on horses before..

When I showed cows we had to use leather show halters, I had all black ones with a almost black cow, I thought it looked good on her.

It was easy to get a nameplate on them too.

I use a brown leather halter on all my horses. I just like leather. The don't wear any more or less, IMO, than a nylon halter...just in different ways. They both get dusty and where leather can crack, nylon frays. If you keep them inside instead of outside they will obviously last longer. My one horse who is kept in, his halter is still nice and clean. My other horse's halter hangs on the fence as he's on field board and it gets drug through the dirt sometimes.

And the nameplates are pretty easy. I think I paid $14 and took it to a guy who repaired shoes and leather and he put it on for me.

I was either going to go with a black or white leather halter. And then get either a gold or silver nameplate put on it.It wouldn't be his everyday halter just for shows.

Thanks!

1)What color goes best on a black horse?Probably darkish brown

2)How hard is it to get a nameplate on them?I wouldent know, I send it to the tackshop to get that done Lol. Any handyman could do it probably

3)Do they wear easy? Not at all, especially if you take care of them.

If your going to be showing you definatly need a leather halter! It isent a good idea to trailer with a nylon one and can look kinda takcy at big shows.

I have had my halter almost 3 years and it is still wearing great. I like the look of leather rather then nylon, it looks better IMO. As far as on a black horse, i think dover sells them, but i saw these at Rolex where it is a black leather halter with white, blue, green, or red padding. I think you can get them in other colors too. They were sweet.

If you get a name plate my friend took hers to a shoe repair store and they can put them on for you.

You say it would be for shows. Do you mean a halter for him to SHOW in (in halter classes) or just one to wear at the show when not under tack?

Talking A few more Q's!

Oh no he wouldn't showing in halter classes. Should have been more clear!Sorry.

Here is Mezzanotte(Midnight):

Would white look really dumb on him?Such as this:

Or should I go with something like this?:

http://www.doversaddlery.com/product...ather%20halter

And would this be to goddy?:
http://www.usfriesianreferral.com/bridles-friesian.html

The name browbands.
I will be showing him in Hunter/jumpers.I think that the name browband would be to flashy for it right?

Last Question.
What color nameplate should go on it?The halter I mean. There is silver or gold.

You guys have helped me soooo much!

I peronally think a nice chestnut or oakbark oil, a lighter oil would look stunning on a black horse
