Leasing out a horse

Ok, my turn to ask questions on this subject.

Ok, here are the terms.

He's going to pay 100% for all care, including veterinary, farrier, and anything else, like this is HIS horse.

NO shoes will be put on him...(will be in agreement).....without first discussing with me, but he only has one horse with shoes, and that horse wears his feet down to nubs if not shod. That horse is a cutter, and he wouldln't DARE rope of of him.

The Fee is written. 400 per month for training from the training contract, in the lease, it is 400 paid to training. Plus it is currently blank as he will be paying my insurance for Blister once that quote is finished. We should hear on a quote by Tuesday, so hte lease agreement wont be finished till then....but between his wife and me, we are getting things ironed out.

IF in the event the horse is injured to the point of loss, or killed, the total "replacement" cost of 10,000 will be paid. What the insurance doesn't pay out, he will be responsible for. (is in the lease).

Any and all "vet" decisions will be made by me, at THEIR cost. (she actually is putting that one line in the lease!)

The lease will be going to the lawyer on Tuesday after the insurance quote is secured and legalized there.

Anything else I'm missing that I need in there?

I'm still in awe that Blister "appraises" as high as 8,000. But I guess a great youth horse is worth the money! I've had him appraised 2 yrs ago at 5,000. Guess he went up in the 2 yrs!

I think you're being very sensible writing the lease agreement and getting it certified by a lawyer. It seems like you're very switched on.

i would also put in there where he can be ridden and where he can't. like if he can go to shows or on trail rides. things like that.

Well, he has full rein on where to ride. Mostly will be at roping practices and jackpots.
