Know anything about the Stubben Siegfreid CS?

Sigh, saddle shopping is almost as stressful as horse shopping!!

Has anybody heard things or used a Stubben Siegfreid CS? Are they comfy? Do they put you in a good position? Are they secure? I know they're a CC saddle, but they almost look like a deeper seat. Do they feel more like a CC or an AP? Anything else?

I'm looking at one that's 17.5in and 31cm tree, and it looks like it has decently forward flaps. Would that possibly fit me (long-legged 5'8) and my horse (thoroughbred, fits in a medium tree)?

And lastly, is $750 a good deal for this saddle? I could take it on trial, and if it didn't work I'd just send it back and they would only charge me shipping which they said averaged to about $25.

So what do you think? The saddle I'm looking at is the fifth one up from the bottom --> http://www.middleburgtack.com/index....lose%20Contact

$750 is definitely a good deal! The 31 cm tree should fit fine. 30 is their medium, but 31 is only 1 cm wider .

I don't have any experience with the CS directly, but I am a big fan of Stubbens in general. I've yet to sit in one that I didn't like . That one does look like a slightly deep seat, but it's not "AP-deep". As long as it puts you in a good position, you should have no problem getting out of it for half seat and jumping.

Thanks luvs2ride79!

I'm worried about AP deep because I trialed a Collegiate Senior Event (AP) and I was practically standing completely out of the saddle to get in two-point. It was supposed to make me feel more secure, but I had to manipulate my position so much to make it work that I felt very unsecure!

And I know Stubben is a quality brand, but I haven't heard much about their saddles.

Yeah, I agree, those Senior event saddles are DEEP! I bought one of eBay and sold it after just two rides. It would be a great trail riding and Dressage saddle, but not so much for jumping, lol.

I have a Stubben Siegfried with a seat deeper than the CS and I have no problems two pointing or jumping in it.

This will be my first English saddle, so I'm not too familiar with all the models. I have been riding my trainer's CC, and have had no problems feeling insecure in it. I'm more comfortable with less stuff in my way (deep seat).

May I ask the difference between a Siegfried and a Siegried CS?

I had a stubben Siegfried for years. Before that I had a no name. It helped me sit better, balance better etc. I have tried the CS at one point when I wanted to purchase one but it was snatched from out under me and it is a wonderful saddle.

I ended up with a stubben camelot by sheer luck lol. This lady who was getting out of horses and knew my trainer came to one of our shows. Her two daughters had grown tired of the horses (which they payed $7k for one and $8k for the other horse lol talk about a hit) and got into atv's and boys and no longer rode. They bought this for the younger daughter I believe, and she used it twice before they stopped riding. I got it for $400 including stubben leathers, a stubben saddle cover, irons and a girth. Needless to say I was quite pleased with the deal. I also got a brand new english show jacket (too big on me though, need to see if I can get it altered) for about $20 as I recall.

$750 is an excellent price as those are around $2500 new I think (would have to look)

Yay, the more I learn about this saddle, the more I want it!

I'm just waiting to hear back from my trainer (she's a saddle guru), and then I'm going to go ahead and ask for the trial.

I really hope it fits my horse and I
