I keep going back to the pic of his eye... it wrenches my heart.
God bless you for bringing him home. I'll look forward to updates.

Aww what a nice boy...for a horse so skinny and not cared for, his feet look pretty god eh!

You can almost see the tears in his eye.

I can't wait to see him in a couple of months.

This is so sad. I am so happy his life is now in a positive turnaround.
Thank you for having such a big heart. He will be a fabulous horse when he fills out. You are an angel for helping him.

LOL okay, quick update before I head back down to the barn. He is doing great today! This morning when I went down to feed everyone of course all my horses heard the door open and started whinnying, he didn't even let out a sound until I was in front of his door. I opened it up and he got that 'oh no here it comes' scared look and then he realized I was just bringing him food. He perked up and rushed to the hay. He ate all of his bran mash and then walked around in a turn out for a while (too hot to stay out during the day) so he came back in to his nice stall (tons of fluffy shavings) and is standing in front of his fan looking like he's in heaven = ) He drank half a bucket of water last night (not as good as I'd like but better, and he's on electrolytes and not dehydrated anymore, I think the soupy mash helped) and we just got back from TSC with a bunch of goodies for him (easy de-wormer for his stomach-safe guard, antibiotics (just in case) and his tetnus and other vaccinations (tetnus will be given now, the rest in about a week or so). Not to mention some yummy apple treats and new brushes = ) I'm going to post more pics later. His eyes are brighter today, he seems stronger and he was even trotting around in the turn out. It might just be my imagination but I think even from just one day of good food he is showing maybe a half an inch less rib (from the bottom of his stomach up, not covering of course) lol can't blame a gal for being hopeful can you?

Okay back down to the barn I go, pics coming in a few hours!

I think you are seeing re-hydration but it's ALL good!!

Like someone said, his feet appear to be in fairly good shape, and the only thing good about a horse that thin, is that their bone structure is very evident and it looks as if he will have a good strong back. I also thought, TWH, as soon as I saw his head shot. I wish you all the luck in the world with him.

Any names yet or did he come with one?

I don't know how people do this either. My own Ice was rescued by my trainer, I bought him 6 months later.

Currently at my barn there is a drop dead gorgeous palomino paint, taken by the sheriff, was out on pasture as a stallion with several mares. The folks who rescued him have just heard from the vet that the reason his right hip is so messed up is because it apparently **fractured** at some point and was left to heal on its' own (!!!) with no veterinary care. He is not currently sound for riding and his future as anything but a pasture pet is doubtful. BUT his rescuers are determined to keep him and give him the best possible home.

Ya know, I think there must be s special corner of **** for people who do this to horses.

He's got so much fight left in him, you can just see it. While he was eating some hay tonight I was sitting on a chair next to him and it almost looked like a tear was coming out of his eye (I know it was probably just runny but I'm dramatic) and he reached over and stuck his head in my lap and just stayed there while I rubbed him and talked to him. It just breaks my heart how people let this happen.
