OH Mercy, whomever owned him should have been shot and left for the hogs to pick apart. That is absolutely disgusting...Granted I have seen worse but not by much. It breaks my heart to think that ppl can be so cruel.

No wonder the kill buyers didn't want him, they would have had to pay the slaughter house to take him, so that would have been a loss of $$ for them. Good luck getting him to better health and a better weight!

Oh, btw, one of the more shady horse traders (who buys and then sells to kill buyers) told me 'you fatten him up a little, get him riding and in 6 months bring him back, he'll sell for at least $750 when he's not skinny' (skinny? seriously? how about huge freakin' understatement jack head). I turned and looked and said 'This horse will NEVER come back to this place for the rest of his life, you couldn't give me enough money in the world to bring him here again.'

I wonder if he got the hint?

Poor thing! I can't believe you got him for only $35, that is just crazy. I bet he will be a great horse once he gets some weight back on him. Kudos to you for taking him.

Ah that poor horse! He looks in awful condition! I don't understand how anybody can treat horses like that, its disgusting. Those cuts and his weight are really bad.

I'm so glad you got him, I'm sure you'll take brilliant care of him. Hopefully you've found a diamond in the rough

Oh my goodness, I don't even know what to say! Thank you so much for bringing him home. The poor guy I agree with Jeda, he's going to be fabulous when you get weight on him. GOOD on you!

What a sweet looking thing he is! Good job getting him out of there and giving him a loving home. And be sure to keep us updated on his recovery and progres. He's such a handsome boy.

Thanks to everyone = ) I can't wait until he can be gelded (no way to be able to go under right now) about the time he is well enough for it he'll be able to be turned out to play with the others and that is a day I am EAGERLY awaiting. He's also going to have a buddy to share his gelding experience with. We figure we'll get him and our other rescue done at the same time, they should be ready and in good enough condition once the flies go away in October They can have a support group
