Smile Kentucky Derby

Hey, did anyone see the Kentucky Derby Saturday? I cant belive Barbaro won by 7 lengths!! They said it was the highest since 1948! I think Barbaro will become a Triple Crowner the way he's been racing!! He won 6 races straight so far!! Anywho anyone else see it?

I missed it. I've been trying to find some good online footage of it but haven't been able to so far. I'm so mad at myself too, because I always like to watch the full hour before the race where they highlight certain horses and trainers, etc...

I watched as well. He really got ahead of the rest of the pack!

Do you know if Barbaro is a stud or a gelding?

If Barbaro can stay away from the speed horses in this next race then the Belmont should be interesting.
The Preakness Stakes is the shortest race of the three. At a mile and three sixteenths, it is one furlong shorter than the Kentucky Derby and three furlongs shorter than the Belmont. The Preakness is known as a speed race, but rarely does a horse win here wire-to-wire. The race's turns are actually much like the Kentucky Derby, which makes the Preakness a faux stalker's race despite the comparatively short distance. Pimlico has a max capacity of 14 horses so I think that Barbaro will need to stalk around third to fifth position if he hopes to win the second leg of the Triple Crown.
After seeing how he ran and looked after the Kentucky Derby, I think he can handle the 1 1/2 mile distance of the Belmont....his trainer says that horse has yet to be really tested......but we will see.

Michael Matz is a great trainer. He was the flag bearer for the closing ceremonies in Atlanta he is a silver medal winning showjumper and he also has raced steeplechase horses so he knows how to get a horse in condition. He is a good hands on horseman and does a lot of work with his horses. Barbaro is a Dynaformer and he is a good stud horse go to Three Chimneys Stud page to see pics of Dynaformer. Barbaros mom is a Carson City mare so he has a solid pedigree. From my inside connections, Barbaro was relaxing nicely in a grazing paddock yesterday at Fair Hill Farm in Maryland and will be galloping back today. I wish Michael Matz all the luck because someone will win the triplecrown and a great person and a solid horseman like Michael would be great, plus a nice horse with nice connections helps a lot.

I watched it. By far one of the best races I've seen. I love that horse, and his trainer just deserved it, he really did. Too bad some of you missed it, it was AWESOME! I sure hope he makes history and wins the Triple Crown.
