Keeping the mane on the right side!

Hey guys,

Doc's mane is all weird. Half of it is flopped over on the left side and the other half is on the right side. I've tried to get it all on the right side...but for the life of me I can't.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

I couldn't have said it better then Drafty.

Braid it real tight and pull downward as you braid to help press the mane into place. Tie it tight and even throw on a sleezy if you really want the effect .

I did it with Jig but slacked off after a few times braiding and it flopped over.. so be patient lol.. make sure you braid it to the right.. its the propper way.. from what I know!

you can also after braiding it get some hair mouse and apply it to the crest it will help the mane to want to stay in that direction...Cathy

Brushing. Lots of brushing. My mare's mane was the same way when I got her. I brushed it everyday for a couple of weeks and now it stays on one side.

won't braiding make them want to rub? And won't doing it tight break hair when they stretch and stuff?

I sure hope those suggestions work for you, because they sure didn't for me . Tuck's mane laid very nicely to the right for two years and then when he was coming three it decided to switch. Well, it ended up being a foot long mane that stuck straight up and no matter how long I kept it braided or banded to one side, a few days later it would go right back. I ended up roaching his mane this summer and now it's growing back in its new direction. Cursed rebellious locks... if it happens again, he's just going to have to deal with it.

Also, to keep him from rubbing or getting itchy, I would just rub some hypoallergetic lotion on. It kept him from drying out and me rubbing felt like a good scratch, but not nearly as damaging.

I pluck most the hairs that grow on the "wrong" side. Its always worked for me and it helps getting a thinner mane.
