| Senior Member | My friend had a black horse that she refused to blanket or keep inside and it would always fade until she started feeding it black as night. After that it was dark even though she turned him out all the time and never sheeted him

| Senior Member+ | I don't think anyone has mentioned paprika (besides Black as Knight) yet. I started my bay mare on it in February, so I can't say yet whether it works or not, but a lot of people on here say it really helps. However, it doesn't MAKE your horse black, it keeps them black, so you have to start feeding it to them before they get their summer coat. Also, if you show, it might not be a good idea, since some drug test comes out positive if you feed paprika.
