He had farm calls this morning in my neck of the woods. When I called this morning at 8 am he was already gone.

But I'm confused...why didn't the vet do the prodecure right away? Like in the morning? Why is he waiting until the evening to do it?

This is the equine vet right? But she was already at the clinic?

Idk...maybe it's just me. But I'd be upset having my emergency mare not being worked on first. My mare was seen for 2 hours in the beginning of the day and all road calls waited until she was done being worked on for that morning.

Just to me, if a mare is carrying a decomposing foal and has for several days and has an infection I think that would take priority over any other call. Unless there's another emergency and she's stable, which it sounds like she is.

I am a little frustrated cuz now the office is closed and I haven't heard anything yet. And from what I understand it is going to be a long process so he probably wanted to get his farm calls out of the way so he could devoute his time to her. And yes she is stable and has a bunch of antibiotics in her.

How far away is she from you?

I can't imagine the torture your going through being away from her.

I'm lucky enough to have my vet clinic 10 minutes away so I was able to stay at the vet with my girl from open to close.

I hope everything goes well and she recovers quickly

she is 30-45 min away. I haven't felt like leaving the house today. Tomorrow after work when she has made it through this I'm going up there to see her and bring her some apples.

Usually with the surgical procedures, no news is good news.

They would get hold of you if there was a problem or they needed to do something different.

Well just got a called from the vet. Every time the phone rings my heart stops. The vet checked Katy and her cervix is not dialated yet. So he can't dissect the foal today. They are going to flush out her uterus again and pump her with more medicine and will check her again tomorrow afternoon. She is still in the same condition she was yesterday, stable and alert. I am going up there tomorrow after work so I won't be able to update till later in the day.
