The vet just called and he can not do anything more with giving her the estrogen, the cervix has not dialated enough to get the foal out not even enough for him to feel for the legs. He called the university and they suggested a drug that they give humans but it will cost $4,000. They also suggested a c-section. The problem with a c-section is that she could develop an infection or she may not make it through the anestia (sp). I told him to go ahead and do the c-section and he did reiterate that she may not make it. I asked about the cost and he said about $300. But there really is no other option is there? They will do the c-section this afternoon and call me when they are done. I will let you all know how she does. Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts, I truly believe that is how she has made it through thus far and will make it through the surgery.

Angie

I am wishing the best for her. She is a strong mare, that helps a lot.

I have no other suggestions but hope for a safe c-section. She may make it through that but the infection is the worry like he said. I sure hope she pulls through but if it's not her time anymore that she is laid to rest and not suffer. You'll be in our prayers Angie. (((HUGS))

Angie,

You are in my thoughts and I am sooo glad you are doing right by Katy.. I hope all goes well and that you get to bring her home soon!!

Just to let you know how worried I was about her I borrowed a laptop to take to Road to the Horse with me so I could keep up with her... checked on her the minute I woke up and the minute we got back to the room !!

Angie,

The news just doesn't get better does it. I pray that the surgery goes well. You are doing what's best for her and that's all that matters. Everyone is still in my thoughts!
