I'm sorry to hear that you had to pull, but happy to hear that you put Kandee first and did pull! Next time you'll finish!

I love the pictures!! She is so pretty!

Thank you so much everyone!

The vet at the end of the ride, during awards, made it pretty clear that he was very displeased with the "riders whom didn't put their horses first and argued with me" and that he was "very proud of those that pulled their horses by their own choice"

Kandee is a good girl, and I want to keep her sound for years to come. I don't want to break her will to do anything for me, and I am afraid if I ask too much she'll eventually just...stop wanting to give her all.

They did take pics during the first loop, but they were HORRIBLE quality and I wasn't going to spend $10 on them. Plus I feel since I didn't finish the ride, I don't really need a ride picture./

Bummer you didn't get to finish, but I'm glad that you did the right thing.
Better to wait and fight another day

Great pics, I am glad you pulled out, rather than push on, and make it a not so good experience for Kandee....as for that snotty woman, what goes around comes around...sorry her horse had to pay for it....I bet Kandee's next ride she does just great!

Good on you for doing what was best for Kandee! I would expect nothing less of you, Jess! She is sooooo pretty and you of course take awesome care of her... she'll just get better and better!
I feel sorry for that "other" person's horse though.
Glad Kandee has healed so well

wow, that sucks that some people are THAT competitive!!

I thought *I* was competitive - I used to race motorcycles and did quite well in it. I'm extremely competitive but I draw the line when people/horse's lives/health are at stake. But I guess there are nasty competitive people in every sport. Sad to see it in though...I would hope that horse people would be better since there are horses lives on the line. That's sad.

Good for you for doing what you felt was right!!

Yeah, I"m not a fan of people who treat their horses like machines and not living, breathing creatures. Our horses would go until they DIED to please us, it is not right at all to take advantage of them like that!

So oh well. I know I did my best, and Kandee probably would have got me into first if not for the sponging fiasco, so I feel good about it all.

You always learn something new at each and every ride, so I didn't feel as if I went away without anything.
