Justice doing barrels?

I don't know if any of you rem. or not but Justice had a severe laceration (down to the bone) on her back left coronet band. The prognosis was not good and many people were telling me that I should put her down. Well I didn't and after hard work and 4 months later she is perfectly fine. There is not an ounce of lameness, her strength is back, and her cut is completely healed over and dried up.

I was planning on doing barrels with her once she was old enough and then once that happened I was afraid that it would be too much stress. But, now that I see how well she is doing, how strong she is getting, and how much she LOVES to run.....I'm thinking of barrels again.

I am going to let her grow and be a baby and start her when she's about 3 1/2. She is 2 1/2 now and I might just "sit" on her this summer but not hardcore ride her until she is almost four.

Do you guys think that if I do everything right and really get her nice and strong that I could give it a try?

Here's a pic of the injury about a month and a half ago.
She had her foot bent all weird.....but back left

Then this is her yesterday jumping and jiving in the roundpen. lol She didn't show any lameness or weakness AT ALL.

If it's healing up good and there's no lamness, then I don't see why not. You may wanna make sure you boot her though.....you don't want her hitting that and re-injuring it. There's really no way of knowing if that leg will hold up or not. Just take your time, take it easy with her, make sure it's healed up good and progress slowly. If it ever looks questionable to you (looks like it may break open, she's starts getting gimpy, ect), then stop.

I would say to go ahead and go through with your training plan as far as waiting until she's older, and then completely break her to ride, and then maybe have her vetted to make sure that she's fully able to do barrels.
