Just started bucking!

So this year, I did my usual spring get into shape workout for the horses. Started with lunging 4 minuts (2 min both directions) and we are now up to 10 without heavy breathing. Had the vet out for spring checkups and shots, Everyone is healthy and doing well. My gelding, on the other hand, has decided to buck every time he is asked for a canter, but ONLY when some one is on him. No bucking on the lunge line with a saddle. He will even buck bareback. Had my trainer come out (she does chiro) and nothing wrong. This is supposed to be my daughters horse. Any suggestions as how to put a stop to this with out spanking him? This is the first time he has ever done this. It is totally out of character. (unless he is getting back at me for gelding him last year! ) He is normally verry level headed. Thanks .

Dawn

Forgot to mention, he is 9 y/o, 14.2 HH and 1000 lbs.

"Totally out of character" means something is wrong.

You say your trainer "does chiro", but is she certified? I think before you assume it's the horse's fault, you should have your vet and a massage therapist look at him

My trainer is certified for chiropractic and a vet tech. We are both scratching our heads over this one. No massage therapists in Alaska that I have found, but their is one accupuncturist. Thinking about giving her a call. Since we had no baby act outs during training when he was five, we are thinking that maybe we are getting them now? I am open to all ideas/suggestions.

the fact that he only does it when someone is on him makes me think its a pain thing. The saddle does not weigh much or really press down on his back. but if he is doing it bareback and with the saddle but only with a person on it sounds like the excess weight is causing him pain
