Can we please keep this thread on track. The OP was asked for clarification, it was given, can we please move on and quit bickering?

How long must a person wait to regain ammy status in this discipline...annnnnd....was she already retired from coaching when she bought the horse....

mmmmm...things to ponder since this is in the original post stating the trainer was champ.....

OP QUOTE...

The WP/HUS trainer whom I used to work with (and am good friends with) ended up Nov Am champ at congress on her 3yo.

I remember when she first got him as an unbroke scragly 2yo... man has he come a LONG way.... ita amazing =)

END

EC rules require two years min. in any discipline they govern before Ammy status can be applied for.

I too hope this is cleared up
Novice Amateur is for those AQHA members who have not achieved a certain amount of points in a certain classes/skill sets. Once the Novice Amateur "points" out (gets those required # of points), they can no longer show in that Novice Amateur class, but will then have to show in the Amateur class.

I think what some folks get lost on is that Novice riders must ONLY be Amateur or Youth. You MUST qualify for Amateur or Youth status first before qualifying for Novice. A Pro/Open rider in one skill set cannot qualify as novice in a different set even if they have never ridden in any of those classes.

And yes, my understanding is that the trainer was the one who ran out and hugged the girl that was riding her horse.

That makes sense now. I wish ApHC was the same way. Instead Non-Pros (novice or regular) must own the horse (or an immediate family member). I think the youth rules are different. Thanks for clearing it up for me

Oh my wow.

Thank you for sharing this, Circle C. Very nice horse and rider; that trainer sure did a nice job, too.

Also, I understand your frustration with some comments. I'd feel the same way. Ah well, just gotta roll with it.

I really do not see anything wrong with the rider and how she chose to praise her horse. She patted him, good for her. Then she hugged her trainer on a job well done and victory. I'm sure that horse didn't get offended that she got a hug first, or really care much at all. And, I'd be willing to bet that it was very well taken care of and pampered afterwards. Remember, horses are animals. He deserves a lot of credit, but he doesn't really care about who gets it first/more publicly. Probably just thinkin' about getting back to the stall for dinner lol
