Jumping pre-novice pics

We travelled down to the instructor again. More xcntry and flat work.

Poor chick and Dizzy. The instructor is no longer letting them coast and has them working hard. She is very good at gently nudging them up a class if she thinks they can do it. She did ask chick if she wanted to have a go at a jump and chick was a tad dubious about it. She went anyway.

She did manage to scare Dizzy once by dropping off him and doing a wonderful somersault over the jump to land at the instructors feet. It wasn't either of their fault really. Dizzy decided he knew what he was doing and didn't need to listen to chicks half halt. Result a very fast stop when he realised he was too deep to jump.

This is the jump she fell at.

This is one of the pre-novice fences

This is a big drop

And this was the ditch onto the bank.

The pre-novice water jump

A pre-novice jump that Dizzy hadn't seen before. She did jump the lower one first before moving up to the bigger one.

It took more than one approach before Dizzy was going to go over these scary white palings.

I have so many pics but won't bore everyone with them. Just the highlights. I am so happy with both he and Chick. They have both come so far together this year.

For those that don't know the levels they are

Pre-intro 60cm or about 2 foot
Intro 80cm or bit over 2 foot6
Pre-lim 95cm or about bit over 3 foot
Pre-novice 105cm or bout 3'6.

Chick is complaining tonight of the aches and pains from the weekend. Her instructor would be so happy with that. She is a solid believer in 'No pain, no gain'

Thanks Donna, I have had at least 3 people tell me in the last week what an improvement he is now to earlier this year. He did not even think about bucking at any of the jumps this time. One of the people who commented on him said they were surprised at how good he is. They have known him since we got him and watched chick struggle to bring out what we knew was in there. The other person said they would have sold him on fast with the nonsense he use to come out with.

Wow! Those look like some solid jumps, there!

Glad Chick wasn't hurt in the fall, and maybe Dizzy will realize it might be smart to listen to his rider, lol!

I wish I had the talent to ride like Chick, but even if I did, I don't know if I'd have the nerve!
