Tales of Page and Allure!
WHOOoo...oooh...eee...

I am so tired. It seems like I never have a second to breathe.
I received Allure's nameplate in the mail a few days ago and have been trying to get it attached to her halter... between the leather punch looking for some sick time, my being completely inept and lacking that perfect combination of screwdriver and threatening expression... let's just say the backings of the screws have made it in okay.
I sent off her DNA... two weeks ago? And just received Page's DNA kit in the mail today, so I pulled hair for that tonight and it will hit the mail in the morning. As soon as all of that is processed, I'll have Allure's registration papers in my hot little hands. She is definitely in a weird place physically right now, but I'm so proud of her... she's such a gem.
Right now I'm spending some time goofing around on Page out at the barn, when I can get myself up into the saddle. Physically I'm having a hard time, and then emotionally I get a little burned out and just don't want to do anything. I think that's because there are so many watchful eyes at this barn... I feel like I should always be "working" on something, and that just putzing around would be frowned upon. Sigh. I think I'm expected to ride her tomorrow in a lesson. I should. I want to. But I'm always so tired.
I'm making plans to get Allure on the trailer to the Shootout this year in mares SHIH. If she goes, she'll be up against mature mares for the most part as there is no baby class at this show. It's not as if I'd be going expecting to win, but I do want to see what kind of condition I can get her into... I wouldn't send her the way she is right now (a little moth-eaten). When we get her out to the barn (hopefully on the 1st depending on finances, sigh) I'm going to start ponying her from her mother quite a bit, walk/trot on the flat and over poles to give her a bit more muscle tone.
