We had another good week, Lexy and I. She is getting better at the stop but she still likes to be a bit wild at the lope when I first ask her. If fact, I have to work her a good 15 to 20 minutes before she starts to pay good attention to me. She still likes to buck a bit when you first put the saddle on but only about 1 or 2 and then she is done. She is better under saddle then I had hoped for (other than the stopping). She moves pretty well off my legs and on a loose rein, she is better to the right then the left so I now know her strong side. She is slow at the back but is already better than my paint mare. She is amazing now at the walk! Drops her head naturally and moves out with very little leg pressure. It is quite a change going from KC, the 5 yr old I am working with who is maybe 14 hands, to Lexy who I am sure is a good 15 and will probably end up closer to 15.3 Much bigger than I was looking for but if she turns out as well as I am hoping, I won't care at all. I am starting a new training routine only because of the days being too short for me to do any riding Monday-Wednesday. It is dark by the time I get home now so, the girls are being turned out into the pasture Sunday nights and let to play and no work Monday-Wednesday. I will try to leave work early on Thursdays and get home to do some lunging and put them back in the mare motel. I only have Friday-Sunday to really work with them and that is if nothing else comes up. It will be slow progress but hopefully, there will always be progress .
