Horsies :)

I'm excited about the horse stuff going on in my life right now... here are a few updates.

I've started my colt for school, she is going awesome. She's a filly from Cowan Select Quarter Horses, she's by their stud who's a son of Smart Chic O'lena. He's gorgeous! (CSU stands him now... so I've been drooling a little. lol)
I've got about 6 or 7 rides on her, I've ridden her in the indoor arena but haven't loped her outside of the roundpen yet. She's quiet though - never...

My Life RIGHT NOW... lol

Posted 04-30-2008 at 11:35 PM by TrickPony
So things have been good.
As some follow-up on the Mike situation, I went ahead and sold him to the lady. I had a few long talks with the barn manager (who's a friend of mine) and she assured me that she would monitor things - which I think she will.
I told the woman some "horror stories" about Mike in spurs - which were not true but she swore up and down she will never ride him in them.

He really does look great - the property is beautiful, he's nice and...

I'm Worried About Mike... : (

So call me stupid - but I'm not sure I made the right decision regarding Mike afterall.

The woman called me to ask about finalizing the brand inspection - so I (obviously) asked her how she liked Mike and whether or not she had ridden him much.

Her answer?
"Well, I haven't ridden him except once but my granddaughter did - and she trotted a barrel pattern on him and he was great - she loped him home without any stirrups! Then my neighbor came out and...

I Feel... I Don't Know

Posted 04-03-2008 at 12:03 AM by TrickPony
I feel so awkward in my life right now...

I went and saw Mike today with his new "person". She's a lady in her mid 60's I believe - used to ride quite a bit but has had two knee replacements so she just wants something to **** around on now.
Mike was perfect. Not just good - but great. I know I should be happy that he's working out - but I really just wanted him back so much. I really, really really wanted to renegotiate.
I know I shouldn't be so picky, but...

Life Is So Funny

Posted 02-07-2008 at 11:26 AM by TrickPony
I'm riding a new horse for the show team this semester - he's a HUGE gelding from some ranch out of Texas (we weighed him and he tipped the scales at a cool 1422 lbs!!!!) and the ****** can buck. Not just hop around, but has a tendency to come unglued. Ahem.

He spooks at everything - which doesn't impress me overly. He's not a colt - he's 6. Plus he spent all summer being ridden 6 hours a day at some ranch in Wyoming. What's his problem?

He's also 16.2...
