So, I jumped Lolly today. Wow. I need to learn how to ride. She is probably the most difficult horse we have in the barn right now. Think a professional's horse that can only go to Intermediate. But, man, I was doomed.

I couldn't even jump a relatively simply serpentine over cavalettis without having to circle repeated to recollect her. Working with Gina's assistant trainer (also a 4* rider), we brought it back down to the basics and I FINALLY learned what a half-halt is in...

Ed Update

Posted 02-18-2009 at 09:24 PM by SuZQuzie
So, we had the vet out yesterday and he flexed positive on his left hock, a bit on his right hock, and the front left pastern. We expected the hocks, considering how much he has done over the years, but surprised by the pastern. The pastern could be due to his old bow. We're not sure though. He was also a bit sore in his lumbar area and was dropping his left hip at the trot just slightly.

This being the case, we are going to try to get the chiropractor out ASAP, but he isn't returning...

Missing Yauvani

Posted 02-11-2009 at 10:15 PM by SuZQuzie

Foot soreness

Posted 02-06-2009 at 07:25 PM by SuZQuzie
Boo... Ed is foot sore... well, heel sore. He has always been a horse with sensitive footsies. For some reason, they are very soft and, when it gets really wet like it has been for the past 3-4 days, they weaken. This being the case, he is just a tad ouchy. Not lame, but he just doesn't want to move out and go forward like he normally does.

I gave him the day off today and tried to keep him inside in some dry bedding. Tomorrow I will be putting some oil on his feet to try to...

I can ride!!!

Posted 02-04-2009 at 06:56 PM by SuZQuzie
So, for the past 3-4 weeks, I've been feeling like I just can't ride for beans. I wasn't getting frustrated, if anything, it made me work harder. But, for some reason, I just felt like I wasn't quite getting it. Gina was assuring me that I was improving, but I was just feeling incapable...

Ed and I were just out of sync... with dressage, I just couldn't allow with my dang elbows and that was stiffening me up throughout my body which in turn restricted Ed's abilities. In jumping,...
